Senior Manager, Content Strategy

Mariner - Full Time - Hybrid - Overland Park, Kansas

As Senior Manager, Content Strategy, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the firm’s objectives, engages our target audiences and elevates our brand. This position plays a critical role in creating compelling, compliant content across multiple platforms while driving innovation and collaboration within the marketing team and across business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a content strategy that drives client engagement and supports business objectives.

  • Create multi-channel content plans tailored to diverse audience segments.

  • Oversee the development of high-quality, engaging content, including website, whitepapers, articles, newsletters, podcasts, videos, social media posts, email campaigns, webinars and more.

  • Manage a cohesive editorial calendar aligned with marketing campaigns and priorities.

  • Partner with subject matter experts to simplify complex financial concepts into clear, impactful messaging.

  • Help mentor and coach a team of writers, designers and external content partners. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, business development, and advisors, to align content needs and execution.

  • Use analytics to measure content performance and adjust strategies based on data insights.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, client behaviors and competitor insights to refine content initiatives.

  • Ensure all content adheres to regulatory requirements and aligns with the firm’s tone, voice and brand standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in digital-first content strategy, marketing, or editorial roles, with a preference for financial services experience.

  • Strong understanding of financial planning, investment management and regulatory compliance in content creation.

  • Proven success in leading content strategies that drive engagement and business outcomes.

  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.

  • Experience managing creative and/or content teams and collaborating across departments.

  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices and analytics tools.

  • Strong understanding of marketing and branding fundamentals. 

  • Strong personal finance writing skills across media platforms, including writing and proofreading according to AP Style guidelines.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
